A number of students of the ‘Summer Academy’ take on the role of experts in the usability and accessibility of the online community digitalsenior

On June of 2012, about ten participants of 'Summer Academy' had the opportunity to evaluate the digitalsenior online community in terms of usability and accessibility, using ageing difficulties' simulators.

The 7th edition of 'Summer Academy' took place on July of 2012 at the University of Aveiro. In this event, many students from the 10th to 12th grade has the opportunity of living and working on the University's campus for a week.

This experience was included the access to the different laboratories, polytechnic schools, field research as well as to the involvement in a number of scientific workshops, cultural activities, training, sports and recreation activities.

Ten participants of the program P11 - Photography, video and animation took on the role of experts in the usability and accessibility of the online community digitalsenior, taking a set of concerns in the development of multimedia applications for older adults into account.In the end, all participants still tested a simulator of impaired vision (eyeglasses created by the research team).

The 'Summer Academy' is an initiative of scientific research disclosure, which is hosted by the University of Aveiro. It has the purpose of promoting science studies and attracting new students to study at the University of Aveiro.
