Cláudia Ortet, on July 9th at 2:30 pm, defended her thesis project “Evaluation of Gamification Strategies’ Impact in the Information and Communication Services of Cyclotourism for Senior Citizens”, under the scientific supervising of professors Ana Veloso and Liliana Costa. The Research Summit 2021 was the stage for her presentation and was chaired by Professor Óscar Mealha and assessed Md Sanaul Haque.

The aim of her exploratory mixed methods research, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Portuguese Strategy for Active and Healthy Ageing and the Portuguese Strategy for Active Cycling Mobility, is to conceptualize, test and implement a range of gamified information and communication services for the promotion of active and healthy ageing, through cyclotourism.

Participants aged 55 years and over will be recruited, following a non-random process, and divided into an experimental group and a comparison group. It is intended to evaluate the impact of gamification strategies on senior cyclotourism and recognize if there are differences between groups in sociability and behaviour changes in active and healthy ageing and in their perception of quality and satisfaction in tourism.
