Francisco Regalado attends the 2nd Meeting of Public Policies for Ageing

On February 11th, Francisco Regalado was invited to moderate a panel discussion on the theme “Technology in the home of the Older Adult”, at the 2nd Meeting of Public Policies in the area of Ageing.

Some measures, policies, and solutions to bring New Technologies to the older adults’ homes were discussed. The 8 participants in the session were dedicated to thinking about and delivering solutions that promote active and healthy ageing. Among them, it should be noted that, despite the huge barriers of use – which have been amplified in pandemic times -, there are some that should be taken into account, such as (i) the creation of communication strategies to improve understanding of the purpose of technological products; (ii) creation of an intergenerational connection in the applications between seniors, families, and technicians; and (iii) use of graphic design adapted to the needs – e.g. use of emojis or symbols to communicate actions.

It was also highlighted one of the major problems across all sectors: the lack of funding, which conditions the development of projects and access to technological products.

At the end, these solutions were presented by Francisco Regalado in the main auditorium.
