On May 14, 2019, the second session of ‘Gamification and Senior Cyclotourism’ was held at the University of Third Age Gafanha da Nazaré. The students from the University of Third Age, jointly with the researchers Cláudia Ortet and Liliana Costa traveled about 30 km from Gafanha da Nazaré to Vagueira, assisted by a professional cyclist.

On May 14, the students at the University of Third Age Gafanha da Nazaré made their way to the road, around 3:30 from Gafanha da Nazaré direction to Vagueira. Cláudia Ortet gathered the group of students at the University of Third Age and before the cycling activity, she warned them to the use of bike helmets and the bicycle safety equipment.

Fernando, a professional road cyclist, guided the participants and warned to the pavement conditions. During the cycling activity, the participants tested the Strava app and took photos.

The use of the application in context enabled the Master’s student, Cláudia Ortet, to understand the limitations and opportunities that gamification in senior cyclotourism can bring.
